Advice on a large open room sound system?

our church is thinking of upgrading the sound system. right now we have one large speaker that hangs over the pulpit where the microphone is. We have high ceilings. We also have a lot of feedback. We have had problems with wireless mic use in the past. Some are theorizing that in wall surround sound would be better as we move forward and some think that the reason we can't seem to manage wireless is because the speaker hangs right over the preacher wearing the microphone.. Any advice?

Make sure your sub woofer is placed on the floor, next to a wall, or better yet, in the corner of a room. This enables the bass to bounce off the walls.
