  1. In England it's 17 to actually work but you can start doing volunteering and childcare qualifications from 16. You can do child development GCSE from 13/14 ish.

Brownie packs and Rainbows you can be a helper from 16 which is good for getting experience ready for childcare jobs!

  2. I work at a daycare and our helpers start at 17.  But when you are 17 you HAVE to have someone in the room with you.  Once you are 18 you are allowed to be by yourself.

    Hopes this helps!

  3. Depends on what you want to do.  Before you ask about volunteering make sure your vaccinations are up to date and that you have taken a TB test.  Next, go to your local daycare, elementary or Sunday school class and let them know you are interested in volunteering.  They will let you know how you can help.  You should probably be at least a Freshman in High School.

  4. For preschools, day cares and kindergarten classes in our state you need to have a federal fingerprint check to even volunteer. Many high schools have classes that involve a preschool too. You would have to contact the place you want to volunteer to ask them. Good luck as we need extra hands and it is a good way to know if you want to work with a certain age of child as a career.
