  1. The best brand is Kamaka.  Elderly has a tremendous selection of them.  Good luck.

    If you're a newbie the best starter, for my money, is a Lanikai LU-21 or 21C.  http://www.musiciansfriend.com/navigatio...  Both are nato wood tops but have excellent sound....and under $100.  They also come with gear tuners, like those on a guitar, which makes it easier to tune.  Friction tuners for a beginner are a pain.

    Check the latter sites and see if there's a club in your area.  Lot's of fun learning and playing with others.
