I recently purchased the Taylor Made R7's and am not hitting them well. My previous clubs were adams golf GT2. I loved the offset and oversized irons. I am ready to trade in my Taylor Mades and am seeking advice for selecting a new set. I would prefer something offset. I have found it difficult to find specs online for how much offset irons have if any. Any recomendations, thus far I have seen cobra's S9 irons seem to be offset.

  1. I agree with Flastic, now is a good time to fine tune your swing with the new clubs.  Using offset iron will never improve your game just teach you to keep swinging incorrectly.  Keep them a little while longer and work on fixing the problem fundamentally before going back to offset clubs that dont improve your swing.  If you get frustrated and give up then go back to the offset, but do yourself a favor now and work on physically getting better.

In addition to the other suggestions try the Ping G10's, they are also very forgiving.

  2. Check the Golf Magazine Club Test '08.  The S9's were one of the irons tested.  It doesn't say much about offset, but it does give pros and cons of the irons.  You may like the TaylorMade R7 CGB Max better.

  3. The callaway x -18 and x-20s are excellent game improvement irons.  If you want offset, then I'm assuming forgiveness is a major issue as well.  They are very forgiving.

  4. I agree with the above answer about Callaway being good game inprovement irons, but not the X-18 or X-20. I would recommend you look into getting the Callway Big Bertha. They have a wide sole, progressive offset, and a very low CG (center of gravity). The wide sole and the low CG will allow you to get the ball in the air very easily and they are very forgiving. They come in a set of 3-5 i-brid, and then 6-Pw. That way you don't have to worry about hitting the long irons. You get hybrids instead.

    Read about them here:  http://www.callawaygolf.com/Global/en-US...

  5. you could buy any iron and take them to your local club doctor to get him/her to off set them

  6. Another golfer wanting equipment to solve all his problems.  If you develop sound fundamentals you will be able to hit any club well.  This is the problem with modern equipment - it allows a person with a poor swing get the ball airborne and they think they can play the game.  Keep the R7s and get some lessons.
