Advice on credit mediators in the uk?

can anyone tell me the name or provide a link to one of the government approved credit mediators that provide the service free of charge

I can only think of Citizens Advise Bureau .. and even here, once you have received the initial advise you will be expected to pay some-one (such as an Insolvency Practitioner) who will charge for their services (but, at least with some-one recommended by CAB, you won't get ripped off) ..
