Question:

Advice on finding work in spain?

by  |  earlier

I intend to move to spain, probably southern spain and would like to work in the field of events/training organising. Does anyone know any companies that I can contact in order to find this kind of work? Or does anyone know any recruitment agencies who do/may specialise in these fields?

All help will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks!

  1. You might find this article on finding work in Spain of interest:-

  2. Learn to speak spanish first, there's very little work here for anyone and priority is given by most companies to those that are bi or tri lingual. Recruitment agencies are few and far between and geared only for the spanish. I think this is an area oyu are going to find very difficult indeed to break into here. The country is heading towards an recession and when that bites in further, the spanish will only employ the spanish, looking after their own first.... There's not the market here for that sort of work for the brits, its all builders, hairdressers, nail bars and a bit of teaching english if you have the TEFL qualification, but not events, they don't hold them in the same way as the UK for starters, the only ones really held here are property ones, which are done all by the property companies themselves

  3. Barmy is right love working hear in spain is dificult for the english you realy need to be almost fluent in the language to be able to work hear . he dosent mention that even if you do find work you have to register for an N.I.E number before you can work anywhere that takes about a month to get in the first place. you will end up working in a bar or selling time share  do your research first and learn the language. and if you are coming here bring enough money to last you a while as it will take some time sorting out the documents you need to begin with. and please remember the wages are not the same as the u.k. a lot lower  think seriously first come for a holiday and see what its like  DONT JUST JUMP IN BLIND

  4. Sorry but I'm gonna reiterate what others have already said. I have lived here 16 years my Spanish is excellent but now I have relocated I find it hard to get work, simply because I am the wrong side of 40!! If you are young then there may be work for you in bars etc, but if you want a decent wage and decent hours...stay where you are! Spain is not for those that want work unless you have the money set up your own business. It's a great place if you are young and don't mind working for peanuts or you are retired and want to lay in the sun all day. Also in your line of work Barmy is right there is nothing like that here.

I have been self employed for a long time, complicated in  itself, but now relocated and my previous work is no longer needed I am finding it very hard to obtain anything decent.

Sorry we are all so negative, but better to tell you the truth than lie.
