I got a skateboard 3 days ago but i need help on how to ollie. I know i just need to practice, but I need to understand it first. Right now all I can do is a shuv it. Do you jump off the board and right when you start going into the air, you snap down your toe thats on the tail to get you and the board airborne? Or do you kind of just slam the tail while lifting your front foot, and jump as soon as your back foot and the tail hit the ground? Most of my attempts end up the board going airborne but then going in front of me and my back foot doesnt land it. Other times I do an ollie a couple inches, but then I cant repeat it.

  1. I used to skate all through middle and high school. Ollieing is one of the hardest tricks to learn (i think). I liked to practice in the grass so i didnt have to deal with the rolling of the board. you start with your back foot on the tail and your front foor right in the middle of the board. First you slam the tail down with your back foot and after slamming it down you jump off that back footand rock your whole body over the board while sliding your front foot all the way to the nails in the front.

The air comes from slaming that tail down in the back but you have to send that energy back down the board to pick up those back wheels which is what the rocking and sliding of the foot motion will accomplish. when you get really good you will feel like your front foot is dragging the board up as it slides forward.

ok well after writing all that i found a great website that shows you step by step how to ollie and it has pictures and everything. check this out.
