I've borrowed a badge press from someone to make pin badges for an event. I know where to get the materials from to make the badge but how do I create the designs on a PC and what paper do I use etc.)

Thanks

  1. I have a Badge-a-Minit and bought 3 diskettes (a long time ago) with templates and some sample designs. These work with a graphics programme called Print Artist. I usually pick one of the samples and customise it as I have found it difficult to curve the lettering in the in the right arc to go round the edge of the badge.

Badge-a-Minit have much more sophisticated software available for sale on their website now and I have found them very efficient and fast sending supplies from the US.

Standard 80g/m copier paper is fine for graphic designs for photos use the lightest weight you can get or cut just to the size of the badge instead of leaving a margin that wraps around the edge of the top section.

  2. I think you may find the pin uncomfortable on the body part you are thinking of "badging" - stick with the clingfilm and masking tape, held together with oatmeal as per you Counsellor's advice...
