  1. Take a bus from the centre of Palermo to Mondello - a beautiful seaside resort.

Take a bus to Monreale - beautiful church and lots of mosaics.

If you can get to the south coast, a visit to Agrigento to see the Greek ruins is a must.

I loved Sicily. We had a car for travelling between cities but used public transport once we reached our hotel. In Palermo we stayed at the Hotel Bel 3 - breath-taking views over the whole city!

  2. I live in Palermo and I've a holiday house in Favignana where I go some weeks in summer. In september I rent my house weekly.

I suggest you to stay three or four days in Palermo.

Bed and Breakfast: Notarbartolo Via E.Notarbartolo, 35

tel.091 730 8333 . It's near Notarbartolo station in a sicure zone of Palermo where you can go out in the night.

Restaurant: il Cambusone -Piazza Verdi 25 (need booking) tel  091 335597.

Then go one day to Monreale (very important bizantin mosaics) 10 Km from Palermo. There is a bus that goes there departing from Piazza Indipendenza www.amat.pa.it   (number 389 , it costs 1,10 Euros)

Another day go to Cefalù by train, important village far about 50Km from Palermo with an important church and beatiful beach (one day so you can take also a bath).

Favignana is one of the most beatiful seaside in Sicily. It's good to stay there for a week. You can reach it from Palermo by bus Segesta Lines www.segesta.it leaving form Central station or Piazza Politeama or via Libertà every hour. The cost is 8,40 Euros. In 2 hours you are in Trapani harbour and from there you can catch the fast-boat to go to Favignana leaving in summer every hour (timetable www.usticalines.it and www.sieremar.it). In half an hour you are in favignana. The cost is about 10 Euros.

In Favignana you can eat at "La Bettola Restaurant tel. 0923 " or Rais Pizzeria Restaurant (need booking).

You can go from Favignana to the other Egadi island catching the fast boat. Very beautiful is also Levanzo (restaurant Fenici) where you can go for a tour with a boat of a fisherman or go to Marettimo for a tour in countryside on the donkey.

In Favignana you don't need a car because the island is very flat so you can reach all the beaches renting a bike (5 euros for day) or by bus.

    Have a good holiday. Bye
