I want a tattoo to signify each member of my family as a whole. I was thinking of a bouquet of the flowers of our birth months. My question is would a bouquet of Marigolds, Carnations, Lily of the Valley, and Larkspur look good together? The colors used would be yellow/orange (Marigold) red (carnation) pink (Larkspur) and white (Lily of the Valley) Opinions please!

  1. i was thinking about getting a tatoo too... but do you really wanna scar ur body with an ugly black blob... it personally just doenst look good. unless it has an intense meaning (like someone u love dieing etc.)

  2. the best idea is to ask the tattoo artist who is going to do your tattoo. he'll know what shades of what color to use to look good together. i had no clue how many different shades of blue and yellow there were till i got my tattoo. have him show you the bottles of ink and put them all together in a bunch (like the flowers) and go from there. however..i think the tattoo idea is a good one with the flowers that will be really pretty. if a color doesn't seem to look good you can change it...remember flowers come in tons of colors. have fun good luck!

  3. I love that idea! If you have an artist friend, or you can even work with tattoo artist, you can work with them to come up with a beautiful design. If you find that the flowers don't work as well, perhaps you could consider the birthstones instead.

Just a note, though, with the colors you're thinking of... depending on your skin type and tone, some colors are harder to work with and may fade easily, or they just won't look good on your skin or be as vibrant as you'd like. I suspect you'd have the most trouble with the white Lily of the Valley. So colors are something you should definitely talk to the tattoo artist about as well. Also, remember that as beautiful as something may look on paper, there's only so much shading and what not that you can do on skin.

But aside from all that, I think it's a beautiful idea and I love the meaning that will go with it. =)

  4. I think that is such a cute idea! I'm not really into tattoos with a lot of colors in them, but this is really a good idea! Where are you getting it?

And how big? If this is going to be small, then I think it's going to be really cute, but if it's too big it might look a little gaudy. You could have the flowers bound together with a ribbon with a color meaning something your family stands for (ie: love, strength, etc.)
