my father in law has just got a fire-wire installed, and basically ran a holiday film off his cam-corder into the pc,which hes saved in his movies.weve tried to download from his movies onto disc, but to no avail, its burnt something on it,but when weve put it on the dvd machine its coming up disc invalid or not recognised .what are we doing wrong.

and also sorry to be a pain, when burning to a disc, does it burn from the centre of the disc ,outwards,or outside inwards.

thanks in advance and please try to keep it simple.( no pc jargon )

  1. You need to edit the video and then convert it to MPEG-2 - the video format used by DVDs.  You can edit the footage with Windows Movie Maker, output in the highest quality and then use DVD Flick (freeware!) to do the conversion and burn the DVD.

You don't actually NEED to edit the footage, but you're bound to improve it if you do!!

DVDs are burned from the centre out.

  2. you wil need somethign like Roxio to take those dwnloaded films and turn them into a dvd - check if the camera came with software to allow you to do the same
