Advice your mother gave you?

Please share something that your mother used to tell you that turned out to be great advice! :)

My mom never gave much advise, but here's what I tell my children:

1. Never marry beneath your intelligence.

2. People can take away your cars, your house, sometimes even your self-respect, but they can never take away your education and what you know.  

3. Take care of yourself, because you are the only person that can do it.  You will have people that claim they will take care of you-but they can't MAKE you do things like eat healthy, exercise, get enough sleep.

4. Decide on the person you want to be, and live your life that way both in actions and in words (hopefully, you want to be a good person).  

5. Your reputation should reflect on the person you are on the inside.

I don't know if it's 'great' advice or not, but I thought I would throw that in for ya!

If you break my figurines again I'll smack you. basically taught me to be carefull with womens things. Otherwise there is h**l to pay for.
