  1. Keep your team in good order and if you are losing tell them not to give up. KEEP FIGHTING

  2. without a leader the team is not strong, but without the team the leader is not strong either. you must remember, at all times, that even though you are a captain, you are still a member of a team. its not you and them.. its us.

i could write for hours on what i have found works but a lot of that stuff you will learn for yourself. here are a few guidelines that may help.

you have to bring the boys together so that they are enjoying the game and the brotherhood. that is what rugby is about and that is what will make you team strong. anyone can give a speach in a huddle but not everyone can lift the teams spirit with a few words. so when youre in there dont just give the old 'come on boys lets do this for ourselves'. you need to have words that get through and make a difference.. 'heads up, look each other in the eyes, look at you brother next to you and know that he is there for you, we walk together into battle today, we leave nothing on that field, we do whatever it takes.. and so on'

no one talks to the ref, NO ONE, but you. keep the ref happy with you team and it make the game a lot easier

positive attitude at all times. if your team is not playing well, they know they are not playing well, telling them will not help. they need to hear and believe that there is an answer.

have a good chat to the ref before the game and get an understanding of where he is coming from. you will be able to tell from what he wants to talk about, how he will ref the match. then you can tailer your team to the ref game. if he is stressing offside at the breakdowns then your team needs to go into the match knowing that they should be a step back at all breakdowns. keep the ref happy with you team and it make the game a lot easier

and the number one rule is lead by example. you can only ask of your team what you are prepared to do yourself. you cant ask them to stop giving away penalties if you are giving them away yourself. likewise you cant ask them to train hard if you are slacking too. be first to training and last to leave. be first on the field and last off. train harder work more it is your obligation

  3. Lead by example pretty hard to tell your team to do something if you don't.

  4. in training keep the players alert and make sure they are listening to what their being told  while also listenin yourself..If your losing a lot of games keep their heads up, be very motivational towards the players as a team and make sure they are mentally ready for the challenges the next season will bring. a good speech always gets players raring..watch any given sunday and dress as al pacino or something? lol

  5. Set and example, make sure that averyone respects you, if none respects you none will listen to you.

  6. As an old rugger, You gotta stay in their faces! Keep your and their head in the game! Win or Lose you are the face of the team, a good book to read is the one minute manager. Sounds retarded but you can use many technics from there in your sport, especially the (one minute repremand)
