Advisable to stretch through hamstring strains?

I have an upper hamstring strain and i went to a physio last week and he told me that if i wanted to get better stretching is a must during the recovery period?

  1. No that happened me during this season and I'd definitley advise you to go to an advanced physiotherapist. They should heal the hamstring, diagnose why it happened and give you a course of exercises to strengthen the muscle preventing it from happening again. In the meantime, RICE, R-rest I-ice C-compression E-elevation.


  2. Stretching is necessary, but you must be careful not to stretch the muscle too far.

    Be gentle do not bounce or jerk.

    Massage and ice the muscle.

    The idea is to break up adhesions but not to damage the muscle cells.
