Advise a city not far away from barcelona?

Question

after visiting barcelona, i would go to valencia but i couldn't find a empty hostel. i have 2-3 days unattached and at last i have to go to madrid. i thinked about malaga and sevilla but they're far away so i don't know what to do... please advise me city or cities to go, i would prefer seaside places. sorry for my bad english :/

Salou is a touristic city.I live in North of Spain.I went there on holidays,often and it's a very nice place.Awesome hotels.

Look into Girona.  We loved it there, but only did it as a daytrip from Barça.  Also:  Figueres was cute (Dalí house and museum there was spectacular!)  Tarragona was really neat, and begged for a little more than one day.  Cadaqués (right near the border) also has much to offer.  Sitges and Lloret de Mar also have really good reputations.  Enjoy! (all on the coast)
