  1. try some kind of plug and if that doesn't work, have your womb removed.

  2. i use the contraceptive injection, its great, i barely have periods and if i do get 1 im surprised and it hardly lasts a whole day.

  3. You can't. There are certain birth control pills that will reduce the number of periods you have per year, but that's the best you can hope for. Your body is designed that way for a reason, so just suck it up and deal with it like the rest of us.

  4. your periods are a part of being a woman. i know they suck sometimes, but when i don't get mine i worry like h**l that something is wrong. i see my period as my body's way of telling me everything is OK in there.

i know that you can take the pill and reduce your period to 4 a year, but I've heard that makes them really unpleasant, painful and heavy.

if you want my opinion, take the pill, but still have 12 periods a year. the pill will make them much lighter and more bare-able, and they don't last anywhere near as long. my friend told me she used to suffer terribly with her period, so she went on the pill and now they only last a day or 2, they are very light, and she gets little or no period pain.

see a doctor if you really want to cut down on the number of periods you get, they will know much more than us, and they will be able to advise you best.

  5. I hear there is a contraceptive pill in the making which will stop your period. But I don't know why you would want to? They let you klnow your body is ok.

  6. I hear ya, sister. As a really active woman (taekwondo, color guard, running, hiking, swimming, s*x) I usually see my period as more of an inconvenience than a "feminine gift".

I'm looking for a similar solution. Apparently IUDs are supposed to provide birth control and prevent pregnancy.

In the meantime I use the Divacup, a terrific alternative to pads and tampons that makes my period so much easier to manage and has helped ease some of the back pain I always get.

  7. I've heard that the Depo Provera shot is very good as well as the 5 year implant(in upper arm) for reducing periods.

Am personally considering the 2nd option as more than 20 years of periods, I've had enough(plus they are heavy).

If the technology is there, no shame in using it.

  8. Women should embrace their menstruation. Two years ago when I was 19 I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.  I had to have both ovaries removed and now I never menstruate and I can't get pregnant.  Women do not appreciate what their menses menstruation means: you can create life.  When you lose this you grieve as if you lost someone.

  9. do not get the Depo; it has horrible side effects.

i have an I.U.D which stopped my period, but i don't know if it's like that for everyone.

i have to ask though, why do you want to stop your period? are you actually in real pain from it or are you just inconvenienced? if you really want to stop your periods, get a hysterectomy. you won't bleed every month, but you can forget having children if that's in your plans.

EDIT": let me go in to the Depo shot further. i used it when i was 18 and at first, i liked it. however, after a few months i started having "breakthrough" bleeding, which basically resulted to having a mini period all the time. also, i gained about 10 pounds, had no s*x drive and was an emotional wreck. after i stopped using it, i felt much better and i lost the weight with little effort. I'm sure some people can use it w/out side effects, but just do some research. far more women have experienced the negatives.

  10. Short of surgery, there isn't anything that can eliminate your periods completely.    Understanding why you want to eliminate them is the key to  finding a method that will work for you.  I suggest to talk to a doctor...maybe a psychologist, too.

  11. Depo will most likely make u gain weight.

  12. I used depo for years with no side effects and loved it.  By far my favourite form of BC.  Besides, I'm terrible about going to the doctor as often as I should and this forced me to go regularly.
