The fact that the Russian national team was pegged to a 1-1 draw in their second group stage game of Euro 2012 against Poland at Stadion Narodowy pleases d**k Advocaat, the manager, who has expressed his satisfaction over his side’s
performance against the co-hosts of the European tournament.
In a closely contested match, Russia took the deserved lead through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-Dzagoev-c4249 on the 37th minute. However, Advocaat’s men failed to retain the lead after conceding a second-half equaliser through Jakub Błaszczykowski.
Though Russia failed to claim all three points against the White Eagles, they are still atop the Group A. The Euro 2008 semi-finalists have retained the top-spot in the standings above Czech Republic, Poland and Greece respectively.
Russia played the latest match on the back of a 4-1 win in the opening group stage match against Czech Republic at Stadion Miejski on Friday. Advocaat has conceded that the Greeks and the red and whites are stronger opponents as
compared to the Narodaks.
Commenting on their respective group members, the former Zenit St. Petersburg coach has conceded that Poland are playing the tournament on their home surface while the Greeks have proven their mettle after they reached the semi-finals
of the European tournament in 2004.
“Poland got immense support from their home crowd in the match against us. I don’t know how we managed to get away with a point.”
“We had a good game. Our passing and movement was just fine. I am satisfied with the performance but we need to give credit to the opposition team, which troubled us offensively.” The UEFA Cup winner was quoted as saying.
Advocaat believes that a win in the upcoming final group stage match against the Greeks is very important and assured the fan of an improved performance.
The Dutch tactician is of the belief that CSKA Moscow’s Sergei Ignashevich had a good game. He praised the prolific defender, admitting that he is pleased to have the 32-year-old defender at his disposal.
