Aerial Battle looking forward to 63rd career-win after a year of racing drought due to injury
Capabal kennel's Aerial Battle just does not cease to please. Sifting through news archives one comes across articles celebrating his 50th, 60th and now 62nd wins. He is now looking to win his 63rd race, bringing him next to the legendary Hi Noon Renegade of Nova Kennel.
This impressive hound suffered a setback last year when he suffered a stopper injury which can sometimes put an end to a career.
Aerial’s manager, Henry Parker, was skeptical of his career’s future but the hound recovered and is now back with a bang.
This injury occurred when he was at one of his career highs, set out to win the 2010 North America race title at Derby Lane.
Just recently Aerial won seven races in a row and now is striving for ‘top dog’ status at this meet.
This 79-pound hound recently tasted victory on 10th June for the 62nd time for his owner, John Bladen, of OK.
His 50th victory came on 15th March 2011, when he was the betting favourite for the race that he won.
Capabal kennel’s manager, Henry Parker, said about this race that Aerial Battle had exceeded expectations from him with his performance.
March brought better news when he ran the final of the Sprint Classic second time over. He won the 2010 Triple Crown by 4 ½ lengths, among a winning streak of six other races.
He tasted bad luck in January but when he ran the Matinee Idol to defend his title from last year, Aerial ended up in second position.
Nonetheless, Aerial hit the newsstands again with his 60th victory at Derby Lane on 25th May after which Henry Parker said, “He has incredible stamina and I am amazed at him, He was off for 5 months and I wasn't sure how he would handle his return. I am truly amazed with him”.
He was also in the run for ‘top dog’ in that meeting.
Despite turning five in a few months, this dog shows no signs of aging and is still as competitive as ever.
He was named in the 2010 All-America Team II and there’s a possibility that he will be submitted for this year’s team too.
He won the 2010 Triple Crown by 4 ½ lengths, among a winning streak of six other races.
