The Dutchman was not very impressive during the Euro 2012 and was also injured for most of the last season, hence now being surplus to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604’s requirements.
Barcelona bought http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ibrahim-Afellay-c16547 during the winter transfer window and even though the young Dutch star was expected to perform phenomenally and make an impact off the bench, he was not able to impress.
Josep Guardiola played Ibrahim Afellay often and brought him on as a substitute either on the left-wing or in the midfield in place of Andres Iniesta, as the Spanish maestro was struggling with an injury last season.
Even though Afellay got the chance to impress the audience and the head coach, he was definitely struggling in the new team and Barcelona’s footballing philosophy was definitely not working for him.
However, it is not his performance which has led to his downfall; in fact, last season he picked up an injury to his knee and that kept him out of action for most of the season.
He made a return late into the season, but he was rarely given an opportunity to play in the first-team. However, he still made into the Dutch squad that qualified for the Euro 2012.
The Dutch coach, Bert Van Marwijk, mostly started the game with Afellay on the pitch and since he was coming back from a huge injury, he was unable to showcase his talents on the pitch.
After Afellay’s pathetic performance during the Euro 2012, Barcelona are now planning to sell the young Dutchman since he is a surplus to their requirements.
Last season, during Afellay’s absence, two young players were over-impressive and they have shown the potential which they possesses. Isaac Cuenca and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristian-c9491 Tello were both phenomenal throughout the last season and there are many clubs who want to buy
these two players but Barcelona are not willing to part ways with them yet.
However, since Tello and Cuenca are doing things right in their positions, Barcelona definitely do not need the services of Ibrahim Afellay; therefore, they are offering the youngster to team who need players like him. Teams such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan
are interested in signing the youngster and the Catalan giants are willing to offer him to them.
Afellay’s future now rests over a lucrative offer; whichever club is willing to pay more will get the services of the Dutchman.
