why is it that every accomplishment of a minority in a majority "world" is a product of affirmative action? and why is it that ppl get mad and say well black ppl...or hispanics...etc arent smart enough to make it on their own they need extra points on tests or a freeby to get into college, get a job etc..etc...I really dont believe it works....

  1. I'm British and I was mortified to hear that ethnic minorities are favoured by Universities by the colour of their skin and not their educational accomplishments.  It's pure racism against whites and immoral IMO and I can imagine many whites would be quite bitter.

We don't really have much of a black population in the UK (1 or 2%), so can't really relate.

  2. Ok, this is how I see it.

I consider myself white, but the government considers me native american. So, that means I could participate in affirmative action, but I don't. I'm sure you guys will disagree with me, but it feels to me like saying that minorities need extra help. I find it offensive to minorities and I think it is racist. People will say it isn't racist, but it is colleges favoring certain groups by the color of their skin. and that is racist. I applied to a VERY good school and got waitlisted. However, I was talking with someone in admissions and they said that if I had checked the native american box, I would have gotten in without a second thought. I think colleges should just look at gpa's. sat scores, act scores, recommendations, and school activities and that's IT.

I understand, it's just I think the only fair way is to not consider race, and just base it on who a person is and has done, you know? I feel like it just makes another distinction for society between races.
