  1. None of the UFC fighers currently in Affliction were worth keeping around in the UFC.

Sylvia and Arlovski both peaked during thier battles over the heavyweight title. Since then neither has been that great in the octagon or fun to watch.

The UFC is a business and if you arent winning you better still be bringing in viewers and money. They certainly werent doing much of either.

  2. Exactly. Their contracts were up and Affliction swooped in and signed them. Affliction has some serious money behind them (Trump for example) and have gone full force in creating a great heavyweight division.

  3. Yes, their contracts were up.

Plus, Arlovski was being treated like c**p, and pretty much forced to sign a new contract, and Sylvia felt he didn't have anything else to prove in the UFC (which is true, he's already being champ)

  4. The UFC released Sylvia from his contract.  I do not know why.  Arlovski's contract was up and the UFC wouldn't pay him enough so he went to Affliction.

  5. Sylvia had one fight left on his contract and asked to be released...they let him go at his request.  Even though the UFC is the biggest org at the moment, Sylvia was probably given an offer he couldn't refuse, as well as the opportunity to fight guys he'll never come close to fighting in the UFC.  Sylvia just lost 2 of his last 3...that looks very bad on a fighter...fighting and if he could beat Fedor would immediately put him on top so it was the best move on his part.  Arlovski, on the other hand, did not resign with the UFC.  He fought his last fight and his contract was up...they tried to sign a new deal, but it didn't benefit Arlovski as much as signing with Affliction...more money!!!  Arlovski is a big fan favorite so many fans will follow him wherever he goes.  that doesn't mean they won't ever go back though, because both fighters reportedly left on good terms with the UFC and mentioned they would go back in the future (when they're worth a lot more and the UFC is willing to honor that).

  6. Correct. The fighters decided not to renew their contracts with the UFC and decided to go to the deep pockets of Affliction
