Affordable cars for a college student?

Question

I'm 20 and a college student. I will be moving to Cali next year, but at the mean time im in NYC which i dont need a car. Anyways I want to get a nice affordable car. I'm not very picky with cars becuase I just use them to travel or get some place. BUT I do like nice, well built, good quality cars. Any ideas?

get a saturn the sc2 models werent bad looking. they get great gas mileage and if you can drive standard get one because if you get a 5 speed saturn i used to get like 35 mpg. and they are not expensive between 1300 and 1500 will get you a decent one.
