Affordable travel groups for women/new travelers?

A woman I work with would really like to travel, but doesn't really have anyone to go with and doesn't want to travel alone. Since she is an inexperienced traveler, a group tour would probably be best for her.

Can someone suggest an affordable travel group for people who don't want to travel alone? If there are any groups that are exclusively for women, that would be best, but any kind of group for solo-travelers (but not for "singles") that isn't obscenely expensive would probably work.
