Affordable weekend getaways from Darwin

Question

I am visiting Darwin in a couple of weeks for 5 days and would like to go somewhere within a 2-5 hour drive as a weekend getaway and to see something other than the city itself

Litchfield Park and Katherine to the south, and, obviously Kakadu to the east.

Litchfield is a mini Kakadu, with swimming hole, waterfalls and termite mounds.  Katherine has the Gorge (Nitmitiluk National Park) and Mataranka.

In Darwin itself there is lots of stuff, including the Mindil Beach markets on Thursday night which is a must if you are in the vicinity.  A cruise to the Tiwi Islands is also a great excursion.
