On March 3, 2009, Sri Lanka’s cricket team was attacked by terrorists near the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore.
Since the attack, Pakistani home grounds have not hosted international cricket because foreign teams refuse to on the basis of security concerns.

Afghanistan’s cricket team has reached Pakistan to play a 3-match One Day International (ODI) series, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Minal-Mahesh-Patel-c76331 Ground in Islamabad on 25th May.
Pakistani authorities are making sure to take appropriate steps to arrange high-profile security for the opening fixture of the series.
The police force, local representatives, and, DGM securities, all are focusing to deploy infallible security for the teams, officials and supporters.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan team coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rashid-Latif-c84084, who is a former Pakistani wicketkeeper, is also optimistic for the resumption of international cricket in Pakistan.  
“The tour is approved by the Afghan government and I am sure this will be a small step towards reviving international cricket in Pakistan”, said Latif, who became Afghanistan’s coach, last year.
 The captain of the team, Mangal has also asked International Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) to support Afghanistan for the expansion of its cricket infrastructure.
According to him, Afghanistan has to play against Test sides for the perfection of its game, ICC should help them in this regard.     
The 2nd ODI will be played in Rawalpindi and Faisalabad will host the last match of the series.
