http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Scotland-c756 199/8 (50 ov) – Scotland chose to bat
In the 33rd match of the ongoing ICC World Cricket League Championship, Scotland after winning the toss chose to bat first and managed to post a meagre score of 199 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 50 overs against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Afghanistan-c745 at Sharjah
Cricket Stadium (neutral venue).
Needing 200 runs to win, Afghanistan will have to bat sensibly in order to reach the target and since their batsmen have a better experience of playing in these conditions the Scots will have to bowl really well to halt Afghanistan from reaching the target.
Earlier in the day, Scotland openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CS-MacLeod-c1294 gave their side a stand of 26 runs before Afghanistan earned their first wicket of the day on the dismissal of Coetzer, who perished after scoring 23 runs.
Then with 34 runs on the board, the batting side lost their second wicket on the departure of MacLeod, who could score only nine runs before finding his way back to the pavilion.
With both openers back in the pavilion, middle order batsmen MW Machan and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RD-Berrington-c2296 led an astounding charge as they smacked the bowlers all around the park. This was a resilient partnership which broke the back of the bowling attack and successfully
subdued the bowlers.
Finally after taking the score to 133, this outstanding partnership met its end on the wicket of Machan, who was removed by Dawlat Zadran after clobbering a fantastic knock of 44 runs.
Then on the first delivery of the next over, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Berrington-c47840 also lost his wicket after hammering a commendable innings of 51 runs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/PL-Mommsen-c2194 went cheaply as he could score only a run before leaving the field. At the time of his wicket, Scotland were sitting with 141 runs on the board.
D Murphy perished with four to his name while http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AS-Scotland-c46175 lost seven wickets with only 149 runs on the board.
With http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GD-Drummond-c1475 scoring 21, Scotland still managed to post a score worth fighting for.
