  1. Doesn't Angelina Jolies baby Zahara have AIDS?

also some may and some may not!

depends on what happened in their lives

if a parent had AIDS and then had them

    they prob would have them

    or

if they had s*x or got raped they could have had AIDS

  2. I would assume that the majority do. There is a big chunk that are probably orphaned because of abandonment or something because of food supply... But AIDs is an epidemic in Africa, and leaves villages that are run by children.

If a child doesn't have a family, you can probably bet that it was AIDs that got them. And if the child was born from a mother with AIDs, the poor child probably has it also.

If you're considering adopting from Africa, I'll admit that it's a tough choice, and you should probably only do it if you're financially prepared. Or, you could say "whatever" and adopt the kid anyway. But having money does help loads, because he/she might require quite a bit of medical attention.

God bless you! Whatever you do, may it be God's will.

  3. Actually, it is rare that HIV is transmitted from mother to baby, but since SO many of these babies are orphaned because of AIDS, the risk of a baby adopted from Africa is higher than other places, although still not high.  There are programs that do test for HIV before accepting a referral.  Talk to an agency that does African (Ethiopia is a good program and I can give you contact info. for someone who is adopting from Ethiopia if you want to email me privately)  adoption and find out what percentage of babies adopted from the program are HIV positive, and if the baby will have an HIV test at referral.  I know it happens ocassionally, but I really do think it is rare.  The majority of these kids don't come home HIV positive.  And I think a lot of the kids you hear about that do come home HIV positive, their status was known at the time of adoption, although not all.  You can never be 100% sure of your child's health when you adopt internationally, so you do have to know that without being alarmist.

  4. Some do and some do not.

  5. Children whose birthmother's have AIDS when giving birth give off antibodies to their unborn baby.  Those antibodies can stay present in the baby's system for many months, even though the baby may not have AIDS.  It takes time in many cases to see if the baby develops AIDS.

In African, many babies are born with AIDS.  Some are adopted, knowingly and most willingly by loving adoptive parents.

There are truly loving parents for every baby.
