  1. What are you talking about? I have 3 children and all of them are innies. I do have a cousin or 2 that are outies, but when I asked, they were outies because of the way the doctor cut the umbilical cord or in the case of a boy cousin, he needed a hernia operation and his navel went down after the operation. Where do you live in NJ? This sure isn't common and Union, Essex, Hudson or Middlesex Counties. Think before you speak or ask questions.

  2. All BLACK babies do not have outies!

  3. They all don't have their belly buttons sticking out. That is a generalization.

  4. That is strange. My god daughter is AA and hers doesn't stick out. Come to think of it none of the AA babies I know have outies? Where are you from?

  5. I've never noticed...and I've seen a lot of afican-american babies.  *wink*  However, this may shed some light:

Umbilical hernia is one of the most commonly encountered abnormalities in the early months of infancy. There is a distinct racial predilection, with African-American infants having a greatly increased incidence of umbilical hernia. In one study, an umbilical hernia was present in 32% of African-American infants younger than six weeks of age and only 4% of Caucasian infants of the same age. At one year of age, the incidence was 13% in African-American infants and 2% in Caucasian infants.
