African-American <span title="shops/businesses/restaurants">shops/businesses/restaura...</span> in Chicago, IL?

Question

I'm in Chicago, on vacation from London, for a few more days and have searched high and low for African-American food shops, cosmetic shops, hair salons, restaurants and clothing stores (like the Chicago equivalent of Dr. Jays, Jimmy Jazz etc) but cannot find anything.

I have been to Bronzeville (near the Du Sable museum) and the surrounding areas (55th st, etc) but to no avail.

Please tell me wher I can find these type of stores!

Water color is definitely correct, but the true West Indian stores are located  down  the 2400-2600 block West Devon Ave. For soul food restaurant there is MacArthur located at 5412 W. Madison St.,  Edna&#039;s 3175 W. Madison, ( westside location for these 2), Soul Queen 9031 S. Stony Island, Army &amp; Lou&#039;s 422 E. 75th St, Roy&#039;s 403 E. 71st St. For hair salons, there are so many shops located on East 79th St (400-700 block). These are all african american/black shops.

You are close at 55th but you need to come farther south.   There are many shops in the neighborhoods.  Try 71st and South Shore,  Go west on 47th or 55 th.  When you were over by DuSable you need to go further west and South.  

There isn&#039;t a Dr. Jays in Chicago but here are address for Jimmy Jazz:  The Jimmy Jazz in Ford City Mall is a mall where you find other stores like you are looking for.

Almost every cosmetic counter in Chicago has all colors including major departments stores like Macys and cheaper brands at Walgreens.
