Question:

African Fat- tailed gecko feeding and substrate?

Alright, I have two major questions about AFT's:

One: Exactly how many crickets should an adult (5 or more inches) gecko eat per feeding?

Two: Should I use sand on the tank of an adult fat- tail? I've heard that reptile carpet can damage the toes of Bearded Dragons, but is it the same way with geckos? And there is the risk of impaction.

  1. 4 to 6 crickets per feeding is the average.

Sand poses a threat of impaction. The best substrate is news paper or construction paper, they're both cheap and easy to replace when soiled and pose no risk of impaction or toe loss.
