So my school is having an African Festival to raise money for child soldiers in Africa.

Some ideas we already have include:

- blankets with Africa on them

- crafts: jewelry making, mask making, tie dye

- raffle

- food

- selling shirts etc

This is a elementary, middle, and high school event and we have a budget.

Any ideas?

Thanks is advance!

  1. drums & drumming are missing.

  2. I would suggest that you look into a rubber duck race.  You sell rubber ducks with numbers on the bottom and get prizes donated by businesses in the community.  Once you have raised the money you need, you put the rubber ducks in a body of water and the local fire department comes in with their hoses and push the ducks across the body of water.  The first one to reach a certain point is declared the winner and the appropriate prize is awarded to that individual who is holding that ducks number.  Lots of fun because you don't know which duck is yours so if your dad is a fireman he can't aim his hose at your duck.  That would be cheating.

  3. You can collect pencils for The Pencil project and send them to a needy school in Africa. That way the pencils you collect will go a long way in helping children receive their education.

You can also write to   asi@cromers.com

They sell promotional products and you may be able to buy some African related items for cheap (to sell at the festival for profit)
