  1. If the records were available, many African Americans could trace their ancestry back to early colonial days in the 1600s.

Many states did not start recording vital information until the first part of the 20th century.  However, it is very difficult for descendants of slaves to go back before the 1870 census.

  2. It would be hard for many African Americans to trace their genealogy back to the 1750s, because many black people who live in the United States today are descendants of slaves.  It's hard to find any records for slaves, especially birth certificates, because many didn't ever have them.

  3. do you guys can>??? WTF are you asking?

  4. ANYONE can only trace their own ancestry back, as long as the records exist, which concern your own ancestors.  If there never was any record to start with, you will come to a screeching halt.

For the majority of African Americans... THERE WILL BE NO RECORDS prior to 1865.  If you find a record in 1880, saying that a man was 75 yrs old.. that IS the record showing that he was born about 1805, and the record in 1880 COULD be wrong.

If your ancestor was a slave, they will not show up in most records.  If you happened to be descended from the few that were free persons of color, YOU MIGHT.

As for limiting your question to African Americans.. you are making a mistake.  There are many people who have knowledge about how to trace your ancestry, who do not need to be AA, to know what the records are, and what the chances are that you will find anything.
