My african grey is newly fledged, I need (that's a must) trim the wings. Do to the feathers having not molted yet is there a risk of cutting a blood feather?

  1. You should not have to worry about blood feathers, if they are newly fledged they should have a full set of primary flight feathers.

Use caucation when trim flight feathers.... Gerys are heavy fliers, not like the little birds at all.  Try cutting the first three on both sides and see how she dose. She should be able to fly down gracefully and not fly up. Keep triming 1 feather on each side until you have the right number trimed.... You can conntact me in private for more help..

  2. Only trim fully grown feathers.
