  1. its like 40-50 years!

Larger birds live for a LONG time, thats why if you buy one, you deff. need to do your research first to make sure you are ready for the long haul!

  2. The average lifespan of the captivated African grey is 50-60 years in good health.

  3. Can live 50-80 years. Not kidding here. That is why when you get one of these birds it is important to put them in your will because with proper care they can reach very old ages. 50 is more comon than 80 but I know of some that have reached 70-80 years old.

  4. From the Ritchie, Harrison & Harrison´s book:

    Neophema                                       10                      5

    Cockatiel                                           32                     5

    Rainbow Lorikeet                             15                     3

  6. I don't know about the average life span of the Grey. They can live and have been documented living for up to 80-90 years. They will raise babies as long as they live. We have our will made out for our daughter to take our parrot breeding operation over if we die. She is planning on taking over when they get out of the service and then they are taking over the birds. I am setting her up with a nice hobby business. With 10-15 pairs of birds she can make a little extra money to put in the mason jar.

  7. A healthy bird could live well into 60 years, if not longer. This is why birds are such a commitment.. They're going to be with you for the rest of your life. They are not like a dog or a cat, they're like a child.
