Afridi and company, ready to play in India – World Cup 2011
Pakistan Cricket team's Captain, Shahid Afridi said that his team is ready to play their quarter-final game in India despite earlier expressing concerns over security issues.
"It does not matter to us where we play our quarter-final. The biggest issue for us was to qualify for the knockout stage and we have done that now," Afridi said.
"We are ready to play our quarter-final at any venue now," the 30-years old skipper added.
While talking to a private TV channel, the Cornered Tigers’ Captain showed his determination to contest knockout games anywhere in the Sub-continent. A few days ago, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 started a strange debate when he said that Pakistan would avoid playing final-round
matches in India.
Former Pakistan Captain and legendary all-rounder, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-Khan-c64237 heavily criticized Afridi for giving such kind of statements and advised him to be brave.
"If I had been in his place I would have announced we are ready to take on India in India because there is more pressure and expectations on the Indian team," http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-c64193 earlier said.
Afridi gave a logic that that Pakistani players will feel more pressure and stress while playing in India because of tense relation between two neighbor countries. Afridi once again came up and made another headline when he showed his willingness to play
in neighboring country.
"That is a thing of the past. Right now we are just happy to make the quarter-final and if we remain in our confident mode then it does not matter where our quarter-final venue is," Afridi said after changing his view.
Earlier, Shiv Sena, a right wing Hindu party, has issued a few threatening statement about Pakistan team’s arrival in their country. A Shiv Sena spokesman said that they would not allow Men in Green to play in India without permission of their head Bal Thackeray.
Pakistan foreign office has also urged Indian administration to take fool proof security measures for the safety of International cricket players.
Pakistan has not played on Indian surface since 2007, when they last time toured India. India is due to host, quarter-final, a semi-final and the final of the World Cup and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
