Pakistani all-rounder, Shahid Afridi, is keen on making a substantial contribution to his team in their upcoming tour of Sri Lanka (due to begin on June 1 this year), and aims to maintain his form after having fallen into a slump earlier this year.
“I had a bad series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 but I recovered in the Asia Cup,” Afridi pointed out. “Now I am looking for an improved show and eyeing key contribution for Pakistan.”
Afridi came under fire for poor form earlier this year when he managed to claim just 3 wickets in 4 ODIs during the limited-overs series against England which Pakistan hosted in the UAE. Rumours regarding his imminent retirement arose, which were rubbished
by the 32-year-old – he insisted that he was not permanently out of form, but merely going through a lean patch.
The slump appeared to be continuing during the Asia Cup held in Bangladesh in March 2012, as Afridi claimed just 2 scalps prior to the tournament final. However, he managed to turn things around during the finale, played against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747, during which
he gave away just 28 runs in the 10 overs he bowled, in addition to contributing a vital 32 to the total.
In addition to drawing courage from his previous performances, Afridi, who has played 342 ODIs and 48 T20s, also went on to express the hope that he would be able to channel the same form he had previously displayed against Sri Lanka, as he prepared to face
the Lankan http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808 once again.
“I am working very hard and never miss my training. Hopefully, I’ll do well against Sri Lanka once again,” he said.
His disappointing performances in the series against England had been preceded by impressive outings during a series against Sri Lanka, held in the UAE in November last year. He won the Player of the Series award during the ODIs, for having picked up 13
wickets, including a 5 for 35 in the 4th match. Prior to the series against the Poms, the right-hander had claimed a total of 23 wickets in 9 games, played against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and then http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Afghanistan-c745.
