Afridi unhappy with Pakistan’s batting and fielding
Pakistan’s Twenty20 and One-Day International cricket captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 has termed his team’s poor top-order batting and fielding, the main reason for trailing the series against South Africa 2-1.
Afridi stressed the need for his top-order batting line-up to click if they want to have any chance of winning the ongoing series in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033. Afridi, famously known as “Boom Boom” clearly feels lack of sensible batting
from the top-order batsmen. He also wants his fielders to improve since there were many missed run-outs and catches when the Pakistanis were fielding in the third One-dayer.
The Pakistani batsmen have been unable to cope with the pitches in the Arabian Desert and so far, the squad has mainly lost games due to poor show from the batting department.
Pakistan were able to manage a victory in the second One-day match due to All-rounder Abdul Razzaq’s swash-buckling performance, as they chased a massive target of 287 runs. However, the top-order crumbled in front of the South
African bowling even in that match and it was only due to Razzaq’s brilliance that the team managed to pull off a victory out of nowhere.
In the third One-day International, the Pakistani bowlers bowled magnificently and restricted the Proteas to 228 in 50 overs; however, unfortunately, the Pakistani batting order failed yet again to chase a reasonable total.
The Pakistani skipper said, “Our batsmen went in with a negative approach but if you look at [Hashim] Amla’s innings, he wasn’t reluctant at all even though wickets were tumbling at the other end.”
Afridi feels that if http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757’s opening batsman, Hashim Amla could play a sensible knock of 119 runs, then why could not the Pakistani batsmen follow suit. The pitches in Abu Dhabi and Dubai are almost identical to the ones
in the sub-continent, thus making it even easier for the Pakistanis to bat.
The third match was almost identical to the previous one where Pakistan’s batsmen got out in quick succession thus, putting the pressure of chasing runs on the tail-enders. However, unlike the second one-dayer, this time Abdul
Razzaq failed to produce another match saving knock leaving the responsibility of taking the team to victory on the meagre shoulders of Fawad Alam, which seemed to be a bit too much for the young lad.
The Pakistan skipper, was not happy with the fielding either. He believed that the team had been giving away 20 to 30 extra runs due to poor fielding. Afridi, being one of the best fielders himself, certainly wants his team to
show a bit more commitment while fielding. Having said that one needs to remember that Pakistan has never ever been a world class fielding side, they either win due to some outstanding bowling and batting talent. Therefore, if the batsmen do their job properly
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 can cause some serious problems for the Afrikaans.
