Afridi v PCB – Sindh High Court stays PCB disciplinary hearing, Legal Battle Politics, Fans want http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 to go
The Sindh High Court (SHC) has accepted a petition filed by the former captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board (PCB).
The court has called off the hearing of the disciplinary committee on June 8, which was formulated by the PCB.
The Sindh High Court has also asked PCB and the country’s sports minister, Engineer Shaukatullah, to appear in court on Thursday 9 June, 2011.
"We filed a petition at the Sindh High Court against the PCB's disciplinary committee and the punishments", Afridi's legal adviser, Syed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ali-Zafar-c43622 said.
"The court has suspended the committee [hearings] and PCB is bound to abide by the high court. They have been asked to appear before the high court the day after tomorrow and the punishments stand null and void as of now", he stated.
Meanwhile, PCB has accepted the court’s decision and is all set to face the hearings through its legal representative.
“We will honour the orders of Sindh High Court”, Subhan Ahmed, the PCB chief operating officer said.
“Our lawyers will appear before the court and we will accept whatever the court decides.” He confirmed.
In the mean time, star all-rounder, Afridi is getting massive support from all over the country.
He was announced as skipper in 2009 for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
Afridi has played 34 matches as ODI captain. Under his captaincy, Pakistan sealed 18 victories and lost 15 games.
The star all-rounder has proven his potential as a skipper by leading his team to the ICC World Cup 2011 semi-finals and taking the highest number of wickets during the tournament (along with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zaheer-Ahmed-Khan-c98443).
Although, Pakistan lost the important fixture against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 by 29 runs in the semi-final, the way Boom Boom fused the team, which was going through a number of contradictions, and controversies, was commendable.
Pakistani fans were not http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Arthur-Percival-Day-c45927 with the decision to remove Afridi from ODI captaincy.
Fans of the 31-year old, Afridi, have been using social networking websites to criticise PCB http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Malachy-Bernard-Loye-c73963, Ijaz Butt, and are calling for his removal from the cricket body.
