Afridi vows to bring cricket back to Pakistan - Cricket News Update
The former Pakistani captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482, on Saturday vowed to bring international cricket back to Pakistan and revealed that a number of international cricketers have shown interest in joining him for the cause.
Pakistan has not hosted an international match since March 2009, when the touring Sri Lankan cricket team was attacked by militants on their way to the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Seven Sri Lankan players and their assistant coach were injured due to the
attack. Since then no international team has toured Pakistan.
In the aftermath of the attack, the country lost their right to host the 2011 http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
Since international teams are reluctant to tour Pakistan due to security concerns, Pakistan is forced to play its home series on the neutral venues of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013. This is not only causing the country financial loss but the players
are giving up on home advantage.
"All of us have to make efforts to bring international cricket back to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755," said Afridi while speaking to the media reporters.
Afridi revealed that he was planning to organise a competition in Pakistan and in this regard he has spoken to a number of international players.
"I have spoken to a number of top players from different countries and have got good feedback on travelling to Pakistan for a double-wicket competition," said the flamboyant all-rounder on Saturday.
"Most of them have expressed great interest in the event and in playing in Pakistan so I am seriously planning to organise the event, which can allay players' fears on Pakistan," he added further.

Afridi also revealed that he is approaching Indian players as well and hoped that he will be able to convince a few of them to participate in his double-wicket tournament.
