Afrikaans music?

I saw an advert on TV the other night for some Afrikaans music.

This guy was singing a song called "Wys jou muis" - what exactly does that mean?

Do people actually buy that type of music?

"Wys my jou muis" means in literal translation...

"Show me your mouse", which is probably a nice way of saying that he wants to see the girl's genital area, but really, to actually spend money on junk like that is pitiful.

I used to date an Afrikaanse man, we once went to see a metal band, fok off polizi car (jammer, my Afrikaanse spelling isn't hot)

I do, my fav Afrikaans old song is:

"Taal van Staal" (Language of Steel)

And I always listen to Snotkop en Bok Van Blerk

You don't have to like it ,it's meant for white Afrikaans speaking audience ! I like it !  Fantastic ,satirical word play of very descriptive Afrikaans with true traditional boeremusic undertone .It also contains the lyrics of and old traditional song in it's chorus ie. Ek's 'n dapper muis .

It is much better than the Leeuloop k@k or De La Rey !

It is cr@p music. There are very few good afrikaans singers and songwriters. Wys jou Muis does infact translare into show me yours and I will show you mine..type of sexual connection to it.

I went through living h**l while visiting my Afrikaans family in SA. I spent six months there trying to include all members of the family in my visit. They love their Afrikaans music and I had to listen to it every day.

Wys jou muis...means .....Know your mouse/girlfriend/wife depending on the context.

EDIT: Ohhh, I am so off centre that it is a pity one can’t remove my TU. Thank you Heavy D for the vid. I can not deny that I enjoyed that song thoroughly after hearing it for the first time. I am such a hypocrite!

And it hurts me to even admit that I liked it. There is a Dutchmen in me.

Sorry -  that's not music, most of these 'singers' will be forgotten by next year  -  it is sad really, they get a change to actually make something of their life.............they end up trowing it away

Unfortunately there is a market for this type of music and poor innocent people like you and I have to be exposed to listening to this CR@P in the adverts that they out on TV.

"Wys jou muis" - I'm not sure if we have spelt it correctly brother, but I think it has some kind of sexual connotation to it - these guys find some kind of sick humour in lyrics like that.

He he he, thank goodness I did not hear that one but I know there was one called "byt my mielie......". I do not listen to that, although I am Afrikaans, every tom d**k and Harry is bringing out a CD lately, thinking they can sing. Wys Jou Muis is the same in English as Show me your Worsie. I think I am correct, but the others can make a  better contribution?
