Afriyie Acquah will stay at US Palermo – Serie A
US Palermo midfielder Afriyie Acquah has revealed his will to stay at the Aquile and learn more of the game being played in Italy. The youngster is keen to develop into a more professional and quality player at the outfit and is not looking for a transfer
at the moment.
Acquah had been linked to a summer transfer move out of the Serie A but the Ghanaian midfielder has denied rumours of any such move in the near future and said he will stay loyal to the club president Maurizio Zamparini.
The club's official website recently quoted the 18-year-old's comments related to the transfer rumours. Acquah told the website that the rumour is a false alarm and he has no intentions to leave the Pink Blacks at the moment.
Acquah said during an interview with the club's official website, "I am now reading in the media that I am rumoured to be moving. This does not interest me at all. I have just renewed my contract with Palermo, and want to grow into an important player. I
thank president Zamparini for giving me this opportunity. All I am doing now is following the advice of the coach and my team-mates, who want to help me improve."
Acquah has recently signed a contract extension with the Eagles till summers of 2016. The 18-year old reckons that there will not be much first team action for him this season, but the future prospects seem to be bright enough for him to stay at the Rosanero
and establish himself as the future star of the game.
The midfielder, talking about his move to Palermo during last summers, revealed that during the training camp it seemed unrealistic to be in the first squad but hard work eventually pays off. The 18-year old said:
"When I joined the side in a training camp in July last year, I thought it would be impossible to play for the first team. Over the past few months, I have worked hard to achieve my dream."
