Afsare backed by jockey, Kieren Fallon’s success with owner, Al Maktoum, in the Ambant Gala Stakes (Listed Race)
After an impressive performance in the seasonal debut, the three-year-old bay colt, Farhaan, has made his next stop at the Class 1 Ambant Gala Stakes (Listed Race) on Friday, 6th July. He will be up against eight other three-year and above runners in order to contest the £18,714 prize money. Sandown will host the race over a mile, two furlongs and seven yards.
Jazil’s three-year-old bay colt ended fourth in the Poptelecom.Co.UK Fairway Stakes (Listed Race) on 19th May, 2012 at Newmarket over a mile and two furlongs.
In the field of five, four grinded on the distance, and then battled for the wire in the final furlong. Thought Worthy led the runner-up, Noble Mission, by neck’s margin, Rugged Cross reeled in at a ¾ of a length’s distance while Farhaan closed in at a head’s margin.
The leading trio behind the winner did make it a challenge for him to race across the wire comfortably.
The John Dunlop trained will be ridden by William Buick today. The distance is slightly more than what he raced over in the seasonal debut however, drawing the first post might work wonders for the Alshadiyah foaled.
The 2 to 1 entry for the race, Afsare, has recently scored second in a Group 1. Dubawi’s five-year-old bay gelding has been a part of six graded races through the racing career but has failed to claim any.
The best attempt till yet was in the Group 1 Premio Presidente Della Repubblica GBI Racing on 13th May, 2012 at Capannelle over a mile and two furlongs.
The race was won by the favourite entry, Crackerjack King, who set Afsare into the second position due to the two and a half lengths lead.
The Jumaireyah foaled has remained unsuccessful throughout the previous season but when the bay gelding did win back in 2010, he struck a hat trick. It is not that the trainee of Luca Cumani is a weak or incapable gelding, it is just that it is high time that he puts forth his improved version by winning a race.
Jockey Kieren Fallon enjoys a 50% strike rate when he rides for the owner, Al Maktoum, and today, he is riding Afsare for him.
