  1. Farming is varnishing from the state of Texas. Vast areas are no longer in production. The nation does not even want farmers here to grow food crops for the most part. Miles of West Texas farms are now in grass. Do you realize how many beans, peas, other vegetables could be grown on this land. Peanuts are no longer grown in this area of North Central Texas. Production has moved to other areas. Nuts go unharvested. Cotton is leaving too. Growing too much is discouraged by farm policy, foriegn production. Milk indusry is shrinking too. No hogs are fed out in Texas anymore to speak of.   If the world needed it Texas could produce mountains of food. Rest easy!

  2. You are wrong, The earth produces far more food than humans need. It just isn't distributed evenly or fairly.

  3. Not gonna happen.

Science will always provide food and other basic necessities for the ones that can pay for them.

  4. Very much doubt it, no food would mean the end of life and i can't see the "human being" let that happen

  5. I would be very concerned about a food shortage in the world.  I am an American Farmer.  I see frightening things happening in agriculture today.  In my county alone, we lose 2000 acres a year to house construction, stone quarries, roads and industrial.  I wish I had a statistic for the country, I'm sure its a staggering number.  The average age of the american farmer is now over 54.  I'm 25 but my father and the majority of my neighbors are over 54.  Big corporations such as Monsanto, Cargill and Syngenta are n**i-like monopolies.  Ethanol puts corn at a premium.  I see the public uneducated about agriculture.  Corn, wheat and soybeans are at unheard prices now.  Goto www.cbot.com to see the markets.

I'll be happy to answer questions about agricutlure.

  6. People have been worried about humanity running out of food since Malthus in the 19th century -- hasn't happened yet. People get more ingenious and agriculture becomes more productive.

  7. ?

  8. Even if we really trash the environment, we will still have food.

  9. I doubt it.  Even now, if all of the food in the world was distributed evenly, there would be enough for every person in the world to have almost 3,000 Calories every day.  Food isn't distributed evenly though, and not everyone can afford it.  No matter how much food is grown, people still need money to pay for it.

The world population is predicted to hit 8 billion in the 2020's and from there, everyone thinks it will go down.  The world can only support so many people, and if those 8 billion destroy the land used for agriculture, the amount of arable land could be reduced, but there will probably still be enough for people after 100 yrs.  Think about what kinds of technologies can be invented in just the next 100 yrs.  I'm sure a lot of that will have to do with food and ag.
