are  you sure  your system actually meets the  minimum requirements to play said game  ?

when in doubt upgrade upgrade your ram and your video card  

do some basic maintance  defrag your hard drive scan for viruses  and for  malware

reinstall windows for  best  performance  you shoudl reinstal windows at least once a year how long has it been festering on your hd ?

when playing a  game turn off eveyrthing that is not essential playing games is  taxing the most taxing thing on your  computer
