  1. From the phrasing of your question, it sounds like you're conceding that Democrats will control the government.  Interesting.

Anyway, in the unlikely event that oil prices collapse, Americans will be glad to snap it up for themselves.  Even if the government gives subsidies to the Solar or Wind industry, or tax breaks for consumers setting it up, that doesn't interfere with anyone buying ordinary gas if they want to.  And at 75 cents a gallon a lot of people would.

  2. We're going to pay outrageous prices for everything regardless. That's the American way.

  3. good point,i always laugh when they say we need to find alternative fuels and then say we have to conserve oil for future generations. you might be right,we conserve and switch so china doesn't have to

  4. No offense, but the question is a little naive. Oil is a depleting resource, it can only get more expensive in the long run. Oil is used to make many other products besides gasoline. In fact, gasoline isn't the best use for oil. Power plants for the most part use coal which is unaffected by the price of oil. Wind/solar and other "green" sources feed into the power grid, which offsets carbon emissions mostly from coal, not oil. A value judgment has to be made as to what price people are willing to pay for cleaner air. Personally, I'm pro nuclear. I think the price of electricity from gen III nuke plants is much more cost effective and produces much less waste than the gen I plants now in existence.
