I had my gall bladder out in April of 2006 and sometimes I have pain similar to a gall bladder attack now. Does anyone know what might be or why this is happening?

  1. It may be related to the fat content of your diet. As you likely know, the gall bladder is a storage container for bile, which helps the GI tract absorb fats. Recommend (1) consider reducing the fat content in your diet for now and (2) followup visit with your surgeon if it persists.

  2. It is quite possible to feel the gall bladder after it has been removed in the same way that people feel 'phantom' limbs when the arm or leg have been removed. It is most likely that there is a tiny piece of scar material tugging very slightly around the site, causing no harm but just very slightly irritating the area.  I am certain it is nothing to be concerned about. My wife had her gall bladder removed over 10 years ago and it took a while for hers to settle down.

  3. Hmm gall bladder attack? Those are usually due to the presence of calculi or stones in the gall bladder right? and they cause sharp pains? Well similar pains are caused by stones forming in the kidneys or anywhere in the urinary tract and when they get stuck they cause awful pains. You need to drink lots of fluids about 2L a day to constantly flush out your urine and prevent stone formation. Go get an xray or something done, if fluid intake doesnt work in a couple of days, i think they can blast your stones down these days!
