After Michael Jordan; Now Sir Charles Barkley gives some advice to Tiger Woods – NBA Update
Sir Charles Barkley, one of the most entertaining figures ever to play basketball, has uttered some public remarks about the turmoil his good friend and golf great Tiger Woods is going through. Woods is set to return to the golf
course after a three month absence and Barkley isn’t the only one who is concerned.
Michael Jordan had spoken a few days earlier about what Tiger was going through and how he could use the sport of golf to put the worst behind him, and now Barkley has given his two cents of wisdom as well.
Charles, despite his horrible swing, is a close friend of Tiger Woods and often plays golf with him. Barkley said recently that he was very concerned about Tiger’s well being. The golfer has faced a storm on and off the golf course
for around a year now which all started back with the disclosure of a personal scandal.
Woods’ clean guy image was ruined and his marriage hit the rocks as a result, with the player also believed to be in trouble with sponsors who used to pay him millions of dollars. Moreover injuries and poor form kept him from performing
his peak at the golf course which only made things worse.
Now that Woods is about to launch another comeback, Barkley has said he needs to improve his decision making and be careful with the people he trusts. Never one to mince his words, Barkley let loose in criticizing Woods entourage,
actually that of many famous people who he believes surround themselves with “yes men”.
“One of the keys to being successful is surrounding yourself with people who are always going to be honest. You’ve got to understand; most people who are around you [when you're famous] work for you or are just kiss asses… That’s
a major problem. You need to surround yourself with good people who are not going to kiss your a*s and tell you what you want to hear. Who are always going to be honest.”
“That’s a really, really big problem especially when you’re in the limelight. Because the people around you work for you, they want you to buy the dinners all the time, buy the drinks… “
Charles Barkley is certainly someone who will always speak his mind and not back down in the face of criticism for his opinion. The former Phoenix Suns player was very vocal last season in his condemnation of LeBron James and the
Miami Heat. He also criticized the atmosphere at the American Airlines Arena and even though fans tried to intimidate him afterwards, Charles didn’t back down and warned them they didn’t want to “make me come down there”.
