I can't find this. The emperor of Holy Roman Empire created a different Austrian Emperor title in 1804. But what happened to the original Caesar title?

  1. Napoleon I lost his title, but brielfly regained it in 1815 and he was succeeded by Napoleon II, who also reigned in 1815.

The Holy Roman Empire was succeded by the Confederation of the Rhine. "Holy Roman Empire" hasn't been used since 1806.

  2. Napoleon crowned himself Emperor of France on 2 December 1804 at Notre Dame de Paris. Claims that he seized the crown out of the hands of Pope Pius VII during the ceremony in order to avoid subjecting himself to the authority of the pontiff are apocryphal. After he died, his son Napoleon II was briefly the second Emperor of the French. He was known from birth as the King of Rome, and was styled as His Majesty the King of Rome, which Napoleon I declared was the courtesy title of the heir-apparent.

Francis II, Holy Roman Emperor (Florence, 12 February 1768 – Vienna, 2 March 1835) was the last Holy Roman Emperor, ruling from 1792 until 6 August 1806, when he dissolved the Empire after the disastrous defeat of the Third Coalition by Napoleon at the Battle of Austerlitz. In 1804 he founded the Austrian Empire and became Francis I of Austria (Franz I.), the first Emperor of Austria, ruling from 1804 to 1835, so later he was named the one and only Doppelkaiser (double emperor) in history. For the two years between 1804 and 1806 Francis used the title and style by the grace of God elected Roman Emperor, always August, hereditary Emperor of Austria and he was called the Emperor of both Germany and Austria.

  3. Are you talking about the one that ceased when they split the Roman Empire into east and west?

  4. There was a restoration of the French monarchy after Napoleon's death.  Louis XVIII was monarch for about a year.  There was a restoration of the French empire under Napoleon I.  He was succeeded by Napoleon II (L'Aiglon), who ruled for less than one month. Louis XVIII came back and ruled for about 8 years, and he was followed by Charles X and Henri V.

  5. Would you clarify?

Napoleon I made himself emperor of France and when he was overthrown, the title was dissolved.

The title of emperor (Caesar) has to do with Rome, Italy.

These 2 men are not connected except that both had  over zealous egos and wanted to be more than plain old king.
