Question:

After Tennis Practice Rituals?

When I first started playing tennis i started feeling a pain in my wrist after practices. It is nothing major and i usually just forget about it until it started affecting my game and i couldn't hit power shots anymore. Does anyone have any post practice rituals that they do such as icing the wrist or something that helps them. Please help my running for rookie of the year is at stake

  1. I recently spoke to a minor league pitcher 'bout what he does after a game. First he does light- five pounds or less- dumbbell workout. This stretches the muscles and lessens the lactic acid buildup in the muscles. Then he ices whatever hurts for five minutes on ten minutes off, for an hour.

p.s. make sure you're not gripping the racket too tightly. A light grip is all you need to really kill the ball. peace

  2. ur wrist probably hurts from doin pwer shots. unfortunately, i don't know how to handle them because i never got that problem. If you can't do powershots, then move ur oponent around a lot so that he gets tired, then slice it heavily so that it bounces twice. lol. that's usually my strategy.

  3. try wearing a brace while or after playing? um try going out and hitting and just focus on not letting your wrist move and nothing else. then apply that to your game. and ice as much as possible. ibuprofin before you play, STRETCH!!!

  4. if you are hurting meaning something is wrong with your shot or form. perhaps your forehand is too wristy?

you may want to wear some support (i.e. those tight wrist bands) during practice and game, and do some arm stretch for your warm up.

in the mean time, i'd find out what is cause of the pain, the form? the equipment? have you coach take a look at it.

the icing and heating can only do so much, you need to find out the cause to have a long tennis career.
