After Terrell Suggs Baltimore Ravens lose LB Mike McAdoo to torn Achilles -NFL News
A torn Achilles tendon is most likely to cost Baltimore Ravens’ linebacker, Mike McAdoo, the entire 2012 National Football League (NFL) season.
The player suffered the injury during organised team activities (OTAs) last week. He is expected to consume plenty of time to recover and rehab and his return is almost uncertain for the upcoming season.
The player underwent a surgery on Friday, June 01, according to Ravens' management, who did not provide any details around the injury i.e. which leg of the player is injured and how he incurred the injury.
Irrespective of that the news is not a welcome development for the team, which is already through a phase of uncertainty over the same injury veteran LB, Terrell Suggs, is nursing at the moment.
McAdoo was in the squad to cover for Suggs, who had the procedure done on his knee a couple of weeks ago and is set to miss most part of the 2012 NFL season, if not the entire season.
Suggs himself has described the injury to be a partial torn Achilles tendon, hoping to be able to come back some time in November.
Independently, there is a very thin hope of his return this season, and McAdoo’s absence is going to add to Ravens difficulties at the position.
News of McAdoo’s injury was first broken by a local newspaper before the official confirmation by the team. So far, the player’s agent has not offered any comments on the chances of his client’s return this season.
With both players almost out with the injury, Ravens might have to look into the possibility of bringing in another player at the position.
The situation is expected to be clearer on the chances of Suggs’ return and alternative options for the team by the training camp this year.
Suggs is expected to have the final doctor opinion by then, which should determine the course of his return.
So far, all the optimistic expectations regarding the return are expressed by the player himself, which according to some commentators, is a common phenomenon on part of players, without an independent backing to it.
